The company I'm working for, sent me to the IPC 2009 in Karlsruhe, Germany. Many well known personalities held talks about nearly everything. The most interesting presentation were about Caching, Sharding and Distributing by the CTO of swoodoo AG, Lars Jankowfsky.

Their system use a complex but easy-to-use-easy-to-extend SOA that allows them to use different technologies for different needs.
